Selecting objects

Before you can change an object, you must select it. You can select visible objects, hidden objects, and a single object in a group or a nested group. You can select objects in the order in which they were created. You can also select all objects at once and deselect objects.

You can select a single object from a group.

To select objects

Do the following

An object

Click an object using the Pick tool Cj .

Multiple objects

Hold down Shift, and click each object you

want to select.

An object, starting with the first object

Press Shift + Tab until a selection box

Click Edit ► Select all ► Objects.

An object in a group

Hold down Ctrl, and click an object in a

group using the Pick tool.

An object in a nested group

Hold down Ctrl, and using the Pick tool,

click an object you want to select until a

selection box displays around it.

A hidden object

Hold down Alt, and using the Pick tool,

click the topmost object until a selection box

displays around the hidden object you want

to select.

Multiple hidden objects

Hold down Shift + Alt and using the Pick

tool, click the topmost object until a

selection box displays around the hidden

objects you want to select.

A hidden object in a group

Hold down Ctrl + Alt and using the Pick

tool, click the topmost object until a

selection box displays around the hidden

object you want to select.

The status bar displays a description of each hidden object as you select it.

You can also select one or more objects by dragging around the object or objects using the Pick tool Cj .
